BMW G87 M2 M Performance Style Mirror Caps – Prepreg Dry Carbon Fiber (LHD)

Built for the BMW G87 M2, this pair of mirror caps copies the design of BMW’s M Performance carbon caps in prepreg dry carbon fiber; it is not the genuine BMW part. Both caps are full replacements: the painted factory caps come off, and the carbon ones take their place.

The look

Seen head-on, each cap is two carbon bands split by a long, open slot. The upper band swells into a smooth dome over the glass, then flattens into a sharp, pointed fin at the inner end, where the mirror meets its arm. Both bands are carbon, so the whole visible face of the mirror changes, not only its top.

The weave is a small, tight twill laid on the diagonal, and the gloss clear coat throws back reflections, so the pattern shows best in direct sun. On a light-colored M2 the caps become two dark accents at the front corners of the cabin; on black paint the change is mostly texture and shine.

Made for the G87 M2

BMW revealed the G87 M2 in October 2022 as a 2023 model: a compact M coupe carrying the S58 twin-turbo inline-six of the M3 and M4, rated at 453 hp in its first two model years and 473 hp from 2025.

When it launched, one reviewer noted, its mirror caps came only in body color. BMW offered carbon caps as an M Performance part, beside carbon side skirt attachments and side spats, and the M2 CS wears exposed carbon caps as standard. This pair brings that finish to the regular M2.

Why this one

The genuine M Performance caps are one set of parts across the M2, M3 and M4: 51168075063 on the left and 51168075064 on the right, often listed one side at a time. This pair follows their shape and costs well under the genuine pair. What it doesn’t carry is BMW’s name and part number.

Lower-priced caps for the M2 are often overlays, thin shells taped over the painted caps, and some are wet carbon. This pair replaces the caps instead, and prepreg sheets cured in a sealed mold under vacuum leave fewer pinholes than a wet layup.

Living with it

Because the caps replace the painted ones rather than sitting over them, there is no tape on the paint and no second skin to lift at the edges. The painted factory caps come off during fitting and stay with you, so keep them with the car’s spares.
