BMW G80 M3 Engine Bay Parts
12 products
Carbon covers, bracing and protection for the G80 M3 engine bay, made around the sedan's S58 twin-turbo six. Start with what you see when the hood goes up: an engine cover in the factory shape or the Xtra Wide design, then the shroud, ECU, headlamp and cap covers around it.
Below that sit the working parts, a CSL-style strut brace, two oil cooler guards and Unit 17's own dry carbon intake. The same listings cover the G82/G83 M4 engine bay and the G87 M2.
BMW G80 M3 Engine Bay Parts buying guide
Dressing the G80 M3 engine bay, cover first
The engine cover is the centerpiece under the hood, and there are two. The OEM-style engine cover keeps the outline of the factory part, while the Xtra Wide is, as its name says, a wider design. Both are pre-preg in a gloss or matte finish, so the choice comes down to how much of the engine top you want in carbon; compare the photos on each listing. The smaller covers finish the look:
- Cooling shroud: dry carbon in a 3x3 twill, gloss or matte, fixed through precision-drilled holes with the supplied self-tapping screws.
- ECU cover: 2x2 twill pre-preg with a heat-resistant gloss coat, mounted on the factory points and OEM-style rubber grommets.
- Headlamp covers: matte or gloss; pick the G80 entry in the model menu.
- Cap set: carbon caps that bond over the factory plastic caps with 3M tape, no drilling.
- Top grill (cowl): dry carbon, made for left-hand-drive cars.
Strut brace and the oil cooler
The CSL-style strut brace spans the front shock towers in pre-preg dry carbon, autoclave cured, with a 2x2 weave under a UV-resistant gloss clear coat. It uses the factory mounting points and needs no permanent modifications, and the listing credits it with less chassis flex in hard corners. Lower down, the S58's oil cooler sits at the front of the car in an exposed spot. The aluminum guard, with slit-style cutouts for airflow, and the dry carbon skid plate both shield it; the M4 page compares them in more detail.
The intake, and a set on the way
The dry carbon intake is a Unit 17 exclusive: an open design with high-flow filters, sold as a bolt-on for more airflow, quicker throttle response and more turbo sound. It's the one part here aimed at how the M3 breathes and sounds rather than how the bay looks. A separate listing marked Coming soon will offer the engine bay covers singly or as a full set, with a forged option; it has no ship date yet, so ask before planning around it. Test-fit every part before final installation. If one doesn't fit the car named on its product page, contact us first and our fitment guarantee covers the return shipping.
Frequently asked questions
What engine does the G80 M3 have?
The S58, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six. BMW also uses it in the G82/G83 M4, the G87 M2 and the X3 M and X4 M, which is why the covers, brace and guards here are listed for the M3, M4 and M2 alike. On this page, only the cap set also names the X3 M and X4 M.
OEM-style or Xtra Wide: which carbon engine cover should I choose?
Both are pre-preg carbon in gloss or matte, and both are listed for 2021-on M3s. The OEM-style cover follows the factory cover's outline, while the Xtra Wide is a broader design, so it comes down to how much carbon you want across the top of the engine. Compare the photos on each listing, or text 609-525-4865 with questions.
Does the CSL-style strut brace need drilling?
No. Its listing says it installs on the OEM mounting points with no permanent modifications. It's pre-preg dry carbon, autoclave cured, and listed for 2021-on M3s as well as the M4 and the 2023-on M2. Test-fit it before you tighten everything down, since an installed part can't be returned.
Do these engine bay parts fit the 2025 M3 facelift?
Every part on this page is listed for 2021-on G80 M3s, with no separate version for the 2025 facelift. BMW did change some things for 2025, including more power for the Competition xDrive, so if you want a second check on a new car, text a photo of your engine bay to 609-525-4865 before ordering.
