BMW G87 M2 3-Piece Rear Diffuser w rear corner– Prepreg Dry Carbon Fiber (UnitExclusives)

We designed this 3-piece rear diffuser for the BMW G87 M2 because, next to its low nose and sides, the back looked raised. It wraps the quad tailpipes in prepreg dry carbon and carries a low line out to both corners of the bumper.

The look

From behind, it reads as one wide carbon band. Each pair of tailpipes sits in its own squared-off frame, with three sharp fins between them, and at each end a side piece sweeps out under the bumper corner toward the rear wheel.

We kept every shape angular on purpose: flat planes and crisp creases suit the M2’s box-like details better than soft curves. The fine twill weave sits under a gloss clear coat, and on the black M2 in our photos it comes alive wherever the light catches the fins.

Made for the G87 M2

The G87 M2 arrived as a 2023 model with the S58 twin-turbo inline-six from the M3 and M4. Its rear is all horizontal surfaces, with a squarish recess and vertical reflector in each corner and the four tailpipes set well inboard in a big diffuser insert.

That boxy bumper divides opinion; even Carscoops’ reviewer disliked it at first. Our diffuser takes the place of the factory insert and fills out the lower corners, so the rear looks as planted as the front.

Why this one

BMW’s own M Performance carbon diffuser for the M2 (part 51125A46B51) is a single piece, and the M2 CS wears a CS-only design. We went another way: three pieces, so the side pieces can reach out under the bumper corners.

Lower-priced diffusers are often wet carbon, or fiberglass hidden between carbon layers, and wet resin can yellow in the sun. Ours is prepreg dry carbon, and we test-fitted the first sample at our local BMW body shop, where the look and fit got very positive feedback.

Living with it

Like any diffuser, it is one of the lowest parts at the back of the car, so take steep driveway exits and ramps slowly and at an angle, especially when lowered. Nothing is cut or drilled, so the factory insert can always go back on.

Check before you buy

• The openings are shaped around the factory quad tips, two on each side. BMW’s M Performance exhaust stacks its tips in the center, so check with us before ordering for a car with that exhaust.
• The M2 CS has its own carbon rear diffuser from the factory. Check with us before ordering for one.
