You don’t have to do all your G80 M3 or G82 M4 mods at once. Plenty of owners start with one part, live with it, then add the next. The order matters because some parts change the look of the whole car for a few hundred dollars. Others cost more and change less.
Below, we rank the carbon parts our customers order most for these cars. Then we show three real builds from our shoot under the Ben Franklin Bridge, so you can see how the parts work together.
Key takeaways
- Front lips are the most-ordered carbon part for the G80 M3 and G82 M4 in our store, followed by rear diffusers.
- A sensible order is front lip, rear diffuser, trunk spoiler, side skirts, then the grille and the details.
- A lip, diffuser and spoiler cost about $2,000 together at October 2026 prices. Between them, they change the car’s whole outline.
- All three cars in our shoot kept the factory grille and put their carbon on the edges of the car.
- Under US law, aftermarket parts don’t void your BMW warranty by themselves.
What G80 and G82 owners order most
We added up every sale of carbon parts for the G80 M3 and G82/G83 M4 in our store. Front lips come first, with about twice as many sales as rear diffusers in second place. Here’s the full ranking:
| Rank | Part | From (Oct 2026) | Why owners pick it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Front lips and splitters | $799 | Changes the whole nose and bolts on |
| 2 | Rear diffusers, trims and corners | $599 | Balances the front lip at the back |
| 3 | Air duct and vent trims | $399 | Carbon details in the intakes and fenders |
| 4 | Grilles | $699 | The biggest single change to the face |
| 5 | Side skirts | $1,050 | Joins the front and rear visually |
| 6 | Trunk spoilers and wings | $399 | A lot of look for the price |
| 7 | Mirror caps | $599 | A finishing detail |
A sensible order for carbon mods
- Front lip. It changes the whole nose, it’s a moderate install, and it can come off again. Our front lip guide compares the options.
- Rear diffuser. Once the nose has carbon, the back looks bare without it. See our rear diffuser guide.
- Trunk spoiler. It’s one of the cheapest parts, and it finishes the back of the car when you see it from the side.
- Side skirts. They connect the front and rear carbon along the side of the car.
- Grille. It’s the biggest change to the car’s face. But the front bumper has to come off to fit one, and cars with the front radar need the right version. Our carbon grille guide covers both.
- Details. Add small parts like mirror caps and air duct trims after the big pieces are done.
Three builds from our Ben Franklin Bridge shoot

We photographed three cars on the New Jersey waterfront, under the Ben Franklin Bridge with the Philadelphia skyline behind them. The cars are a blue G82 M4 Competition and two G80 M3s, one purple and one teal. All three keep BMW’s factory grille and put their carbon on the edges of the car instead. More photos are in our gallery.
Blue G82 M4 Competition

The blue M4 runs our SPL1 front lip, which turns the factory gloss-black corners into carbon. At the back it has a carbon trunk spoiler, a finned carbon diffuser and small upright winglets at the bumper corners. To build something similar on your M4, start with the SPL1. Then add our MP style rear diffuser, the M4 ducktail spoiler and the M4 MP style corner winglets.
Purple G80 M3

The purple M3 also wears the SPL1 front lip, and a finned carbon diffuser frames its four tailpipes at the back. With the factory grille kept black, the carbon along the bottom edge does all the work. It’s a good template if you want a clean look that still reads as modified.
Teal G80 M3

The teal M3 has a carbon trunk spoiler and a finned carbon diffuser. Its lower rear bumper corners are painted to match the body instead of the usual gloss black. For a similar spoiler on your M3, see our M3 high-kick ducktail spoiler.
What a carbon build costs
At October 2026 prices, here’s what the parts cost as a build grows:
| Build | Parts | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | SPL1 front lip | $999 |
| Front and rear | SPL1, MP style rear diffuser, ducktail spoiler | $2,027 |
| Full lower edge | The above, plus V2 side skirt extensions | $3,077 |
| Full lower edge and face | The above, plus a CSL style grille | $3,776 |
Prices change, so check each product page. Installation is extra if you use a shop. Our install guide shows which jobs are easy to do yourself.
Will carbon parts void your BMW warranty?
Not by themselves. Under US law, your car’s warranty stays in effect when you use aftermarket parts. The manufacturer or dealer has to show that an aftermarket part caused a problem before denying a warranty claim for it (Federal Trade Commission). A part that’s installed badly and damages something else can still lead to a denied claim, so fit parts carefully.
Keep your factory parts, too. The lips, grilles and diffusers in this guide use the factory mounting points, so the car can go back to stock if you sell it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best first mod for a G80 M3?
A carbon front lip. It’s the most-ordered carbon part for these cars in our store, it changes the whole front end, and it bolts on without drilling.
Should I change the grille first?
You can. The grille is the biggest single change, though fitting one means taking off the front bumper. Cars with the front radar also need a grille made for the radar. All three cars in our shoot kept the factory grille.
Do these parts fit the 2025 LCI cars?
Yes. BMW didn’t change the bumpers, grille or body panels in the 2025 update, so our exterior carbon parts fit both versions. Each product page lists the exact years. Our LCI vs pre-LCI guide explains what did change.
Can I fit these parts myself?
Some of them. Rear corners and front lips are reasonable home jobs with the car raised safely. A grille swap means removing the front bumper, so many owners use a shop for that one.
Do the M3 and M4 use the same parts?
At the front, yes. Grilles and front lips fit both. At the back, the bumpers differ, so rear corners, winglets and some diffusers come in separate M3 and M4 versions.
Start with one part
Pick the part that changes your car the most for your budget, and build from there. For many owners, that’s the front lip, our most-ordered part for these cars. See every part for the G80 M3 or the G82/G83 M4. Or text us a photo of your car at 609-525-4865, and we’ll suggest where to start.
