BMW G80 M3 & G82/G83 M4 MP Style Front Bumper Air Ducts – Prepreg Dry Carbon Fiber

These prepreg dry carbon air ducts replace the black honeycomb inserts in the lower front intakes of the BMW G80 M3 and G82/G83 M4. Each is an open carbon frame crossed by one diagonal fin, in the style of BMW’s M Performance inlets. They are not the genuine BMW inlets.

The look

Each duct fills the intake below the headlight: a frame that follows the edge of the opening, a floor along its lower side, and one fin sloping down toward the grille. Where the factory mesh reads as a flat black screen, the intake now looks open and deep.

The carbon is left bare under a gloss clear coat, and the twill weave catches the light along the fin and floor. On silver or grey paint the ducts read as dark, textured frames; on bright blue or green the contrast is stronger, and they sit well beside other carbon parts.

Made for the M3 and M4

BMW gives the G80 M3 sedan, G82 M4 coupe and G83 M4 convertible the same front-end design: a tall, frameless kidney grille with a large two-section intake on each side. The inner section feeds the brakes, the outer one the remote coolant radiators, and the factory covers both with honeycomb mesh.

That air serves the S58 twin-turbo inline-six, rated at 473 hp in the base cars and 503 hp in the Competition models at launch.

Why this one

BMW sells its own carbon inlets for these intakes as genuine M Performance parts (the left one is part 51118074773), and fits carbon inlays with the optional M Carbon exterior package. This pair follows the same single-fin idea in prepreg dry carbon, for well under the price of the genuine set.

Some lower-priced ducts are wet carbon rather than prepreg. One buyer of this pair wrote that they had returned two sets from other makers before these.

Living with it

The ducts sit inside the bumper openings, above its lower edge, so ground clearance is unchanged. Like BMW’s own carbon inlets, they leave the openings without mesh, so stones and road debris have a clearer path to the auxiliary radiators. Worth weighing if you often drive gravel roads.

Keep the factory inserts: the carbon ducts clip into the same positions, so the car can go back to stock later.
