Match the BMW F32 rear diffuser to your tailpipes
The 4 Series left the factory with two exhaust layouts. Six-cylinder cars, the 435i and the 440i that replaced it, have a tailpipe at each side of the bumper, while the four-cylinder 428i and 430i have both on one side. The openings in the diffuser need to line up with yours.
- 435i/440i diffuser: cut for the factory six-cylinder exhaust on the coupe, convertible or Gran Coupe, and it installs with the bolts from your original diffuser. On an M Sport car being converted to a dual exit, it can be part of that job too.
- M Sport diffuser: listed for all three bodies, but its listing doesn't say which tailpipe layout it's cut for. On a 428i or 430i, compare its photos with your bumper, or text a picture to 609-525-4865 before ordering.
F36 Gran Coupe: two listings to compare
Gran Coupe owners can choose between the general M Sport diffuser and one listed only for the F36 M Sport. Neither names an engine, so the tailpipes are again the deciding check, and a 435i or 440i Gran Coupe can take the dual-exit version as well. Send us a photo of the rear if you can't tell which fits.
Drilling, facelift cars and returns
The general and Gran Coupe diffusers need drilling: the holes come predrilled and self-tapping screws are included. We recommend a professional installer for any of them. The listings run from 2014 to 2020, so they include facelifted cars, but only with the M Sport rear bumper, not the standard one. Test-fit before you drill: a drilled or installed diffuser can't be returned, while one that doesn't fit the car on its product page is covered by our fitment guarantee if you contact us before installing. Which diffuser suits a 440i Gran Coupe?
The 435i/440i dual-exit diffuser. Its listing names the factory 435i and 440i and covers the coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe, so it's cut for your tailpipes and reuses the original diffuser's bolts. The F36-only listing and the general M Sport diffuser don't name an engine, so start with the dual-exit one.
Do I need the M Sport package for an F32 diffuser?
Yes. Every diffuser here is made for the M Sport rear bumper, and the general listing says it fits M Sport cars only. A car with the standard bumper would need an M Sport rear bumper first. If you're not sure which you have, text a photo of the rear to 609-525-4865 and we'll tell you.
Is there a diffuser for the F33 convertible?
Yes. The general M Sport diffuser and the 435i/440i dual-exit diffuser both list the convertible alongside the coupe and Gran Coupe. Choose between them by tailpipes: one at each side of the bumper points to the dual-exit version. The F36 diffuser is for the Gran Coupe only.
