Audi RS3 8Y vs 8Y.5 Facelift: What Changed, and Which Front Lip and Carbon Parts Fit

Audi RS3 8Y vs 8Y.5 Facelift: What Changed, and Which Front Lip and Carbon Parts Fit

If you’re shopping for an RS3 8Y.5 front lip, check your model year first. Audi gave the RS3 a new front end for the 2025 facelift, known as the 8Y.5, with a factory splitter that now spans the full width of the car. A lip shaped for that bumper won’t fit the 2022–2024 car, and our pre-facelift splitter is listed for pre-facelift cars only. The rear is easier. Our SD2 Pro and S2 Pro spoilers fit both generations as long as you match the body style.

Here’s what Audi changed, how to tell which RS3 you have, and which of our carbon parts fit it.

Key takeaways

  • In the US, the 2022–2024 RS3 is the original 8Y. The 2025 RS3 is the 8Y.5 facelift.
  • Front lips and front canards are generation-specific. Pick the part listed for your bumper.
  • Our S1 Pro front lip, our best-selling RS3 part, fits the 8Y.5 sedan and Sportback.
  • Rear spoilers are made for a body style and fit either generation. Our SD2 Pro sedan spoiler and S2 Pro Sportback spoiler each fit the 8Y and the 8Y.5.
  • Our carbon hood is listed for both the pre-facelift and the facelift.

What Audi changed for the 2025 RS3 facelift

Audi announced the updated RS 3 Sportback and Sedan on August 20, 2024. Its press release lists these changes for the outside:

  • A flatter, much broader Singleframe grille with a rhombus pattern.
  • Side air intakes with vertical black blades.
  • Three openings above the front splitter, which “now spans the entire vehicle breadth.”
  • A daytime running light signature that shows a checkered flag.
  • At the back, vertical side reflectors and a new RS diffuser with a red reflector in its center.

Inside, the steering wheel is flattened at the top and bottom, a new red RS button sits on the right spoke, and the shifter is flatter. Audi said it would reach dealers from October 2024.

In the US the facelift is the 2025 model year. Audi of America’s release (March 20, 2025) describes the 2025 RS 3 as a compact sport sedan with a new rhombus-pattern grille, enlarged air intakes, new front and rear bumpers and an RS-specific diffuser. It lists 394 hp and 369 lb-ft, 0–60 mph in 3.6 seconds and a $63,400 starting MSRP. The 2022 car that started the 8Y generation in the US was rated at 401 hp and 369 lb-ft.

So the facelift didn’t add power. What it changed was the front end, the rear bumper and the cabin, and if you’re buying body parts, the new front bumper is the one to watch.

Why a front lip fits only one generation

A front lip bolts to the bottom edge of the bumper and follows its shape. The 8Y.5 bumper is shaped differently, has new intakes and carries a factory splitter across the whole width, so a lip made for one bumper won’t line up with the other.

Our listings say so too. The pre-facelift splitter is “compatible with Audi RS3 8Y Pre-Facelift models only.” The facelift splitter V2 is “compatible with Audi RS3 8Y.5 Facelift models only” and “designed specifically for the 8Y.5 facelift front bumper.”

Front canards are the same story. Our 4-piece front bumper canard set is listed for pre-facelift models only. For the 8Y.5 we list rear bumper canards instead.

How to tell if your RS3 is an 8Y or an 8Y.5

Start with the model year on your registration. In the US, 2022, 2023 and 2024 cars are the pre-facelift 8Y, and 2025 cars are the 8Y.5.

If you’ve got the car in front of you, check these points from Audi’s release:

What to check 8Y pre-facelift (2022–2024) 8Y.5 facelift (2025 on)
Factory front splitter Doesn’t run the full width Spans the full width, with three openings above it
Side air intakes Earlier design Vertical black blades
Grille Earlier design Flatter, broader, rhombus pattern
Daytime running lights Earlier signature Checkered flag signature
Rear diffuser Earlier design New design with a red reflector in the center
Steering wheel Earlier design Flattened top and bottom, red RS button

Sedan vs Sportback: do the parts differ?

In the US, Audi sells the RS3 as a sedan. Audi of America calls the 2025 car a compact sport sedan, and Motor Authority wrote that “once again only the sedan body style is expected here.” The Sportback is the hatchback version sold in other markets.

Most of our front, side and diffuser parts are listed for both bodies, including the S1 Pro lip, the front air ducts, the E1 Pro side skirts and the RD1 Pro diffuser.

Spoilers are where the two bodies split. The SD2 Pro sits on the sedan’s trunk lid, and the S2 Pro follows the Sportback’s hatch. We also list a Sportback roof spoiler at $1,100 with side blades and two air outlets. It comes with the mounting hardware and pre-applied tape where it’s needed.

Our full sedan aero kit ($3,995) bundles a one-piece front splitter, side skirt extensions, a rear diffuser and lower rear corner splitters. It’s listed for the sedan only, and the listing says a separate package covers the Sportback. If your sedan is a 2022–2024 car, text us before you order the kit and we’ll confirm the front splitter in it matches your bumper.

Our best-selling RS3 parts

Ranked by units sold, our top three RS3 parts are:

  1. The S1 Pro front lip for the 8Y.5.
  2. The full sedan aero kit.
  3. The E1 Pro side skirt extensions.

The S1 Pro is our own design, a one-piece lip in prepreg dry carbon fiber with a high-gloss, UV-resistant clear coat. Its listing says it follows the factory bumper contours. If you want the lip and the side skirts together, the S1 Pro and E1 Pro package is $2,275.

If you’re wondering how prepreg dry carbon differs from cheaper wet-layup parts, read our prepreg vs wet-layup guide. It uses BMW parts as the examples, but the materials are the same.

Frequently asked questions

Will a pre-facelift RS3 front lip fit the 8Y.5?

No. The 2025 RS3 got a new front bumper with a factory splitter across its full width, so each lip is made for one bumper or the other. Our pre-facelift splitter is listed for 2022–2024 cars only. For a 2025 car, pick the S1 Pro lip or the facelift splitter V2.

What year is the RS3 facelift in the US?

It’s the 2025 model year. Audi of America released the 2025 RS 3 with a new grille, enlarged air intakes and new bumpers. The 2022, 2023 and 2024 cars are the original 8Y.

Is the RS3 Sportback sold in the US?

No, Audi sells the RS3 in the US as a sedan. The Sportback is the hatchback sold in other markets. Our front lips and side skirts are listed for both bodies, but rear spoilers are made for one body or the other.

Which RS3 parts fit both the 8Y and the 8Y.5?

From our range, the SD2 Pro sedan spoiler, the S2 Pro Sportback spoiler and the carbon hood are listed for both generations. Front lips, front and rear canards, the front air ducts and the RD1 Pro diffuser are each listed for one generation only.

Does the S1 Pro front lip fit the RS3 sedan and the Sportback?

Yes. The S1 Pro listing covers the 2025 and later RS3 8Y.5 Facelift Sedan and Sportback. It isn’t listed for the 2022–2024 car.

What if a part doesn’t fit my car?

If a part doesn’t fit the vehicle listed on its product page, contact us before installing and we’ll cover the return shipping for a refund or replacement. We accept returns on uninstalled parts for 14 days, but we can’t take back painted or installed parts.

Which RS3 carbon parts should you choose?

Start with your model year. On a 2025 or later RS3, the S1 Pro front lip is our most popular first step, and the rear canards and RD1 Pro diffuser finish the back. On a 2022–2024 car, start with the pre-facelift splitter and the front canards. Whichever car you have, pick the spoiler that matches your body.

Browse everything for the car on our RS3 8Y page, or go straight to front lips, canards, side skirts, diffusers and spoilers. Most orders ship within 5 business days, and our parts carry a 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Not sure which bumper you have? Text us at 609-525-4865.
